Hojumoni Privacy Policy
How Hojumoni handles account, community, marketplace, employment, payment, location, and safety information.
1. Scope
Hojumoni is an Australian Korean-community service for local groups, public and group posts, listings, events, jobs, messaging, payments, notifications, and trust and safety. This policy explains how Hojumoni ("we", "us", or "our") handles personal information when you use the app, website, support channels, and related services.
2. Information We Collect
- Account and authentication: name, display name, username, email address, optional date of birth, phone number and verification status, profile images, biography, language, authentication provider identifiers, and account security records.
- Community activity: city hub, groups, memberships, friendships, roles, onboarding choices, posts, comments, reactions, announcements, reports, blocks, messages, read receipts, uploaded images, videos, and files.
- Marketplace activity: listings, categories, prices, availability, saved listings and searches, search terms, views, reactions, enquiries, conversations, participation, reviews, reports, and transaction status.
- Location and address information: city, suburb, addresses you choose for a listing, address lookup identifiers, and map coordinates derived from that address. Hojumoni does not require continuous background location access.
- Jobs and applications: resume name, full name, phone, email, visa or work-rights information, introduction, education, experience, availability, certifications, uploaded resume documents, applications, and application status.
- Business verification: ABN, legal or business name, contact email, website, state, postcode, registry results, match signals, submission and review status, and reviewer decisions.
- Payments: event or participation amount, currency, payment method and status, PayID details supplied by an organiser, Stripe account and transaction identifiers, refunds, disputes, and chargeback records. Card details are entered with Stripe and are not stored by Hojumoni.
- Device and support: push token, app and OS version, device type, diagnostics, security events, support correspondence, screenshots, and information submitted with a safety or privacy request.
3. How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you, automatically when you use Hojumoni, from other members when they interact with you, from authentication and payment providers, and from public or licensed sources used for ABN and Australian address verification.
4. Why We Use Information
- Provide accounts, authentication, profiles, groups, feeds, messaging, listings, applications, payments, notifications, and support.
- Personalise city, group, search, and saved-content experiences.
- Verify phone numbers, businesses, addresses, participation, and transaction status.
- Prevent spam, fraud, unsafe conduct, and policy violations; operate reports, blocks, moderation, and appeals.
- Maintain reliability, measure product interaction, diagnose failures, and protect the service.
- Meet legal, tax, accounting, dispute, child-safety, and law-enforcement obligations.
5. Who Receives Information
- Other members receive information according to the audience and feature you choose. Public listings and public groups can be visible without an account.
- Group leaders and authorised moderators can receive membership, report, and activity information needed to operate and protect communities.
- Listing participants, organisers, buyers, sellers, employers, and applicants receive the information needed for the relevant transaction or application.
- Our providers include AWS for storage, Railway for hosting, Expo for push delivery and app services, Stream for messaging services where enabled, Stripe for payments, Twilio for phone verification, Apple, Google, and Kakao for authentication where selected, and Australian Business Register and address-data providers for verification and lookup.
- We may disclose information to advisers, regulators, courts, law enforcement, or safety organisations where authorised or required by law.
We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-app advertising tracking.
6. Overseas Processing
Some providers may process or support information from Australia, the United States, and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate. Privacy protections in those locations may differ from Australian law. We select providers and configure access, storage, and security controls appropriate to the service.
7. Retention And Account Deletion
We retain information while your account is active and for the period reasonably needed for the purposes above. You can delete your account in Settings. Deletion removes or anonymises your profile, authentication, messages, community content, marketplace content, saved activity, resumes, uploaded resume documents, and job applications from active systems.
Limited pseudonymous transaction, refund, dispute, fraud-prevention, moderation, and security records may be retained when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect users and the service. Provider records and encrypted backups expire under their applicable retention schedules. We do not use retained records to keep your deleted account active.
8. Access, Correction, Complaints, And Choices
- Update profile and notification choices in the app.
- Request access to or correction of personal information.
- Delete your account in Settings or contact support if you cannot access it.
- Withdraw optional permissions in device settings; some features may then stop working.
- Make a privacy complaint by emailing us with the subject
Privacy Request - Hojumoni.
We will acknowledge privacy complaints and aim to provide a substantive response within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
9. Children And Safety
Hojumoni is not intended for children under 13. We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation, grooming, sextortion, sexual solicitation of minors, and child sexual abuse material. Report immediate danger to emergency services and report app content through Hojumoni or the child-safety contact below.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including access controls, encrypted transport, private storage for resume documents, and monitoring. No service can guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes
We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice for material changes where appropriate.
